A Brief background on Ronaldo’s Project
Start up: Eco Dehydrator. Problem statement: Recently, the biggest challenge faced by a small farmer is not in the production of a crop but rather in the preservation of the crop. Half of all the fruits and vegetables produced are thrown away, even though millions of people across the continent are growing hungry and the climate change effects are threats already to our doors. Large amounts of grains, roots and tubers are lost after harvesting and before arriving at market.
SOLUTION: Designing Eco-Dehydrator which is a low tech dehydrator for vegetables, fruits, casava and sweet potatoes. Device will be used to prolong the shelf life of the crops from 2 days to 2 years. Using recycled materials, the product will cost only 200k, three times less expensive than electric dehydrators.
